Vejle, September 9 2024
With increased ambitions as a future software-as-a-service company, Unik System Design A/S, which employs more than 240 people at several locations across the country, has decided to split its business into two. The goal is to strengthen its position in the two verticals for which the company provides IT solutions – the legal and the property vertical.
Unik System Design A/S in Vejle has chosen to divide the company into two independent businesses, each with a specific vertical focus.
As a leading provider of software solutions for both legaltech and proptech, this is an important step to strengthen their position in a market that increasingly demands more vertical-specific operations – particularly internationally.
“The split of Unik is part of a strategic growth journey and means that each unit can now fully focus on their respective verticals. We want to move from thinking of software as a whole to having businesses that solely specializes in vertical-specific software in order to create the most value for our customers,” says Jens Find, CEO of Unik System Design A/S. “Although the split is a significant challenge, it is a crucial step towards evolving our business. We have greater ambitions for both companies, and this is also a preparation for acquisitions and internationalization.”
The split is expected to formally take effect in early November 2024, where the part of the company working with case management solutions for the legal vertical will receive a new registration number (CVR) and a new company name, JustiSolutions. The rest of Unik will continue under its current name, focusing solely on property management.
A new era
As previously announced, Unik is transitioning entirely to Software-as-a-Service – also known as SaaS – which is why they are actively developing and delivering cloud-based products. HabiCen for digital property management will replace the current Unik Bolig, and JustiCase for legal case management will replace Unik Advosys. This plan remains unchanged. At the same time, it was announced that the Dutch private equity firm, Main Capital Partners, had acquired a majority stake in Unik to act as a strategic partner and support in the transition to SaaS. The ownership structure will remain unchanged in both companies.
